The photographer Lars Henrik Mardahl is in many ways an example of the classic advertisingphotographer. Or perhaps the dream of photographing as many advertising photographers have. The dream of creative latitude.

The freedom of working without any indispensable requirements of certain content, but with confidence in creating an atmosphere in which the individual picture contributes to creating an image for the customer.

As a photo designer Lars Henrik Mardahl is creating stills within the fields of foodstyling, lifestyle, furniture design and technology, and as a foodphotographer and a food stylist he is working in his own studio as well as abroad. During travels abroad he is constantly working on following the trends of the current imagery.

It is of importance that the customer’s product is remembered in the context in which is belongs. The interplay of photo design, light, atmosphere and the trustworthiness of the expression is decisive for a brand.

The set-up can be reflected by an imagery which is either an authentic environment or it shall give the spectator an association of an environment. The expression is stringent, pure, cool and well-considered. It may be poetic, but never sentimental.

Image communication above all.  The short moment in which the image can convince the spectator of the quality of exactly that image; the moment in which the fiction starts  a creative process with the spectator - at that moment the image magic arises.

The portfolio covers the trend within lifestyle, food photography and design tasks shooted in Denmark and abroad. The cool, pure and aesthetic  expression is among other things influenced by architecture and the lifestyle in big cities in Europe; you notice close contact to the cities Hamburg and Berlin.

A 100-year old industrial building situated in Aarhus – formerly a bakery – has been rebuilt into a four-storeyed studio; designed setting reflecting style and aesthetic which also the pictures express.

The customers include advertising agencies, international companies, PR and graphic agencies requiring creative expressions.
